This is the start of an inspiration patch, where I hope that fellow scrappers and creators will come and find some inspiration, or even leave some inspiration for me.

Basic Grey Weekly Sketch Challenge

I am so enjoying the various challenges, it has been really fun creating the layouts!
This one is no exception and it is about my son Joe, who just loves reading his Daddy's bike and aircraft magazine's! Okay "reading" is probably debatable since he is only 4 years old, but he goes page by page and has a comment about everything he see's.  Too cute for words!

Firstly, here is the sketch.

Below is my version. I used BG Oliver papers and BG Oxford Chipboard stickers, Upkit circle punch, unknown brads, Fiskars letter stamps and 7 Gypsies - Gypsy market chipboard letters.

Hope to see you back soon! Have an awesome scrappy day!

Bo Bonny - 25 Dec - Layout Challenge

I have been on leave since the 23rd Dec and so I have been scrapping up a storm! I am enjoying every minute of it! This is also the reason for me entering various challenges, because for a change, I actually have the time to sit and just create. It is pure food for the soul!

I have entered a layout for the Bo Bunny Challenge and I am so pleased at the way this layout turned out! This page is about my son and my hope that he will always have dreams and "Dream Big". I hope that he will trust and believe in himself to do extra-ordinary things!

Firstly the sketch..

Denise Workstation Competition - Scrap Affairs

One of our two local scrapbook magazines is running a competition which I have entered. It was quite funny that the competition name is my name! Basically you had to create 4 double page layouts and include hand made flowers from a previous Issues lesson. The 4 double pages had to be in the following themes:

Family Layout
Love Layout
Baby Layout
Heritage Layout

Here is my Family Layout.

Materials used were My Minds Eye papers and Basic Grey Embelishments, 7 Gypsies stamps and rub ons and Upkit rhinestones.

My second layout is the Love Layout, which I took a different spin on and called it "My ten absolute Loves". The materials used were Life Documented - Simple Stories papers and stickers, Making Memories canvas letters and a Martha Stewart punch.  This is definitely one of my favourite pages.

Picture out for Publication

Below are the two pages separately.

Pictures out for Publication

Here is my take on the Baby Layout (Love at first sight). Here the materials used were Kaisercraft - Nans Favourite Paper and Le Chateau Rub Ons, Scrapbook King Rub Ons, Unknown Chip Letters, K&Company sticker letters, Upkit Embelishments and Bazzill Cardstock.

My last layout was the Heritage Layout  (Times Gone By) and is also one of my favourite pages. Materials used were Jenni Bowlin - Family Tree Paper, Bo Bunny Et Cetera Chipboard Letters and stickers, Royal Langnickel Rub Ons, 7 Gypsies tags and stickers, Graphic 45 stickers and October Afternoon - Jawbreakers paper.

The competition closes 25Jan2012.  So should you want to enter, make sure you do it soon.
Thanks for stopping by today.

Monday, 26 December 2011

I was inspired to create a 2012 page for myself, based on the Once Upon a Sketch 15th December challenge. It is kind of a New Years resolution page to remember to celebrate the person that I am, and to make time for Denise and every now and then and give myself the priortity.

So here is the page.

And here are two close ups.

The materials used were 7 Gypsies Abundance paper and Rub Ons, Basic Grey Curio chip stickers, Martha Stewart punch, Prima Flower, Upkit Rhinstones and Celebr8.sa.com wood swirl.
Merry Christmas everyone! To all of those that are behind our time zone and still celebrating, I hope you are enjoying the festivities and are blessed with family time and much peace!

We had a wonderful Christmas Eve spent with family and then a great Christmas day too! It has been a lovely time filled with laughter and joy! I love Christmas and that is really what it means for me - family, joy, laughter and much festivities.

On Christmas Eve I decided to quickly put a small gift together for my helpers daughter.  She has a 7month old son and I wanted to give her a picture of him and my son. So I took a very ordinary picture frame and turned it into something quite cute - A scrapped frame! I called it "Two Little Boys" and basically used October Afternoon (5 & Dime and Hometown) papers, stickers and die cuts.

She was thrilled with it!

Thanks for coming by today and I wish you every blessing and joy today!

Friday, 23 December 2011

On Wednesday evening my sister, her husband, daughters and myself and Joe went to my Aunts retirement village to see a Christmas house in the village.  It was such a lovely visit and the house was really amazing.  I was able to take some really nice photo's of the kids and the Christmas house and want to share them with you below. It really got me into the Christmas spirit!

Here in South Africa, it is summer at Christmas time and so there is no snow.  But Blitzen still showed his face.

This is one of my favourite photo's of the kids.  Isn't it just cute?! I will definitely have to scrap this one!

They had this amazing train village all set out and everything moved and was playing a tune of sorts.  It really was quite awesome and was definitely Joe's favourite.

What a lovely evening spent with the kids!
There is a Monthly challenge on the Two Peas website, "Products you love, every which way" and the challnge this month was to use label stickers. I have been wanting to use a picture of my neice, and so this layout was the result. I used October Afternoon papers (5 & Dime and Schoolhouse) and labels (5 & Dime) and Enmarc flowers.

Below are some close ups.

And another one.

Hero Arts Challenge

I was browsing  the Two Peas website today and saw the Hero Arts Challenge.  I had recenly bought some stamps and thought that a card would be great for this challenge.  I used the Hero Arts Indie Bloom Collection stamps and created this card below.

I firstly used Dazzles, spray ink on the white cardstock and then stuck on the die cut lined paper (for the life of me I cannot remeber the make).  I used the Hero Arts stamps next. The "Adore" was from White Out - We are the Memory Keepers and the "you" blocks from Bo Bunny Defining Moment Stickers. The heart die cut was a local no name brand and the circly die cut chpboard embelishment at the bottom was Basic Grey Hello Luscious. The rub on border beneath it is K&Company Classic K Margo Ornaments and words.

Simply Christmas Cards

I wanted to make some more Christmas cards this past weekend and while deciding on what they should look like, I decided that "less is more" and that simple was the way to go.  I absolutely love the simplicity and love the look of these cute little cards.

Here are the first 3.

Here are the next 3.

I love it when little sparks of inspiration create great projects.

Blog Challenge 30: Layout

Are you ready for a challenge? Take time for yourself out of the hustle and bustle of the holidays and join us in this month’s card challenge!
The challenge: Design a layout based on this fabulous sketch and any theme you want on the card (sketch by Anam Stubbington). That’s right – it’s your choice!
MME_LayoutSketch_2011_12

I love the Minds Eye Challenges, and here is my offering.

Please mind Mr Bug in the middle centre.  The light was fading fast and so decided I needed to get outside before the light faded completely.  I did not realise he was there until after I downloaded the pictures and the light had now completely faded.  I guess he liked my layout too!

I have such beautiful papers and Websters are some of these.  I really love Websters Pages and so decided I should do a layout using one of these beautiful papers. My neices were flower girls at a recent family wedding, and just were such little prinncesses. The beautiful paper just compliments the beautiful occassion.

07 December 2011 - Basic Grey Weekly Challenge

Weekly Challenge : Catalog Cover Inspiration

THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE : Use the cover of BasicGrey’s 2011 Summer Catalog as inspiration. The prints, the circles - whatever moves you to create your next project.

So here is my layout for this challenge. "Loving you is so easy".
I also used circles and used BG paper Oliver and Hello Luscious. The chipboard letters are Bo Bunny Etcetera and the "loving" word is from FabScraps. I love the simplicity of this page and the simple message that it also conveys. My son gives me so much inspiration!

Friday, 2 December 2011

I have been wanting to add some of my layouts to my patch for a while now, but it somehow always goes about time.  So today I will endeavour to add some of my not so recent layouts. I think that's the amazing thing about scrapbooking, one always learns new things and develops new techniques with every page. It is always a creative journey for me.

This first layout was for a "Stretch my Sketch" challenge on Two Peas and I actually won the challenge.  I love this page and the simplicity of it.  It was also important for me to journal and put my thoughts on the page.

This second layout is Joe and his friend Tyler, at Joe's birthday party.  I love October Afternoon paper and it just complemented this layout so well.

This was Joe about 2 years back. I just love doing boy pages and seeing what colours can make for a great boy layout.

This layout was from, exactly, a year ago (Dec 2010)! Joe started nursery school and this was his first day of school.  He was so excited and yet, also a little fearful.  He had a great day though and I was so pleased that he enjoyed it.  My little boy is getting big!

This is one of my favourite layouts.  This layout is of my aunt (Emmy/Emily) when she was a young lady. I am always happy to do vintage layouts and love the vintage colours and feel of this layout.

Here is another layout of my son Joe. We were playing hide and seek and he was so cute! He could not stop laughing and was continually giving himself away! Too sweet for words!

This is another of my favourite layouts.  This layout is of my Gran (SA Ouma) and I really wanted to give this layout an earthy feel, as she and my Grandad (SA Oupa) were farmers. I love the colours!

Joe has 2 older step brothers and every second holiday they come and visit. I was able to take some nice photo's and scrap them.  I used October Afternoon papers and embelishments.

Lastly, this layout is 100% Echo Park. I really wanted to give it a lively and boyish feel, and the colour red for the "heart" part. Good photo's always make for a good layout!

15 November 2011

I have created a page and card for the Mind's Eye November competition. We had to use brown in the layout and card, and of course Mind's Eye products.

Sunday, 16 October 2011

We have been away and spent a glorious week on the beach and in the sun. I couldn't wait to get back and scrap some pages.  Here is my first - Beach Babes

Materials Used: Paper – Terri Conrad Designs, Fabscraps and Heidi Snapp. Corner Punch and card bases. Embellishments – Die Cut Letters and Swirl - Fabscraps,  Happy Days Stickers – Echo Park, Shell Card – Carol Wilson. Dried seaweed and shell.

13 Sep 2011
I wanted to enter the Mind's Eye September challenge no. 28 and so created this card.  I love the way it turned out and has inspired me to really get down to creating some more cards for various occasions and also for Christmas.

The Beginning - 13 Sep 2011

This is the start of an inspiration patch, where I hope that fellow scrappers and creators will come and find some inspiration, or even leave some inspiration for me.
