This is the start of an inspiration patch, where I hope that fellow scrappers and creators will come and find some inspiration, or even leave some inspiration for me.

Life is Sweet - Berry71Bleu September Challenge - Things I Love

Hello Everyone

Happy Friday!!!! Yay...always a good day to start the weekend off and get one into that time-off mode.

I have a page up on the Berry71Bleu Blog here today.  This month's challenge is about "Things I Love"....

So firstly I created a board of a few of the things I love.

One of these is cake....LOL...so my page is about that!:-)

I used one of Marivic's gorgeous tags for this page.  I did put my title over it, but did think it was just perfect, as one can still see that chocolate ganache cake behind the title along with the rest of the tag goodies.

Here's a closer look at the tag.

I used one of my favourite stencils and did some gesso and watercolouring.

The journalling is very "tongue in cheek" and just a little bit of a giggle.
"Admittedly, I have a bit of a sweet tooth and I really do love a decadent cake or pudding.  When one can treat oneself, with a little something sweet, why absolutely not?! My thoughts are that life can be bitter enough and that a little treat can sweeten any day! Marie Antoinette was a woman after my own heart! ;-)

I used the vintage Chic Collection from Heidi Swapp.  It's still a firm favourite!

I hope this added some sweetness to your day!
Have a sweet one...whatever you are doing!

Life - Scrap Around the World April Challenge

Hello Everyone

Today was the perfect day! Perfect weather, perfect company and a perfect lunch! Just a beautiful and gorgeous day! ;-)

I finished a page for the Scrap Around the World April Challenge. This is the stunning mood board below by Riikka Kovasin.

I know that it's not a colour challenge, but I really did love the colours of the board, as well as the crackled little board and the beatiful butterflies. So these were the things that I incorporated into my page.
The thoughts on life were also inspiration and hence the theme of Life (and thoughts) for my page.

I did a lot of work on the background and really enjoyed playing with the different techniques etc. I will show you a close-up below, which gives you an idea of the crackle, stamping and paints.

I really dove into my stash and used some rub-ons and goodies, that I have had for ever and a day! ;-) So I really pleased about that.

I used the Vintage Chic collection from Heidi Swapp, which is still one of my favourite collections.

Just in front of the big butterfly is a chipboard and this is actually my pullout for my journalling tag. That's why I also have the little "Note to Self" rub-on there...

I often hear of people whose lives are really so short, for whatever reason, and again this week it was a reminder to me, that life is precious and everyday is a gift! So this is what this page is about!

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a super evening!

Once Upon a Time - Berry71Bleu

Hello Everyone

I showed you a little sneak peek of my layout the other day and thanks to all who left a lovely comment on the Berry71Bleu blog.

So here is the full reveal on my blog.

I created a vintage page of my grandparents. I got this photo from my Aunt at Christmas time and really wanted to use it, as it was so very special! My grandparents were so young here and don't they make a handsome couple!!

I had some embossed papers leftover from my Zeus and Zoe DT kit which I stuck down to the card stock and then added some book page strips across these.  I then gessoed everything and then laid a stencil down and added some spray ink. I added some pen lines and stamping to complete the background.

I had a beautiful, vintage tag from Marivic, which was the inspiration for this page, as the lady in the tag reminded me so much of my Gran when she was young. I also used a gorgeous Molossi chipboard title, a beautiful Manor House flower and the fabulous glass accent flower by Art-i-cake.

Initially I was a bit worried as to the colour combination, but in the end I was thrilled with how the colours all worked so nicely together.  The combination really added to the vintage feel.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
I hope you have a super Friday and weekend!

One of a Kind - Scrap Africa Sketch no.25

Morning All

There is a new sketch challenge up at Scrap Africa here. It would be super if you could play along and join us.

I found this super image on the internet, and shared it on Scrap Africa as well.

I love this sentiment and I look forward to this 2014 year! I just know it is going to be a great year! ;-)

Here is the sketch for the challenge.

This is my take on it.

I used Heidi Swapp Vintage Chic papers, die-cuts and journalling cards.  Thrown in were also some BoBunny stamps, Prima stamps and flowers, and Petaloo flowers.

These photo's of Joe were taken when he was about 2.  It was such a cute age and he was so very sweet.  Those big eye's are certainly still the same and he still is a sweet little boy.

My background was made up of strips of papers woven together and then covered with a light layer of gesso and then stamped and splattered. Unfortunately I had to cover a lot of it, but I was very happy with the end result.  I am definitely going to try this again and hopefully keep more of it in sight next time! ;-)

Well I hope you will pop by the Scrap Africa blog and see all the other DT's wonderful pages and perhaps you will also play along.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
I really appreciate your visits and comments!
Have a super day!
