Cherish Mixed media Canvas - Little Birdie Crafts

Hello Everyone

Today I am back with a mixed media canvas that I did for Little Birdie crafts a while back.
I really enjoyed my DT time with them and loved their products, especially their blooms.

For this project I used Fairy Sparkle.

Below are some photo's showing the creative process.

I re-used Little Birdie packaging and bits for this canvas.

Thereafter the blooms, fussy cut bits and bobs were layered and added.

Here are the projects details.

For This Project You Will Need:
·         Little Birdie Crafts: Fairy Sparkle Paper Collection & embelishments
·         Little Birdie Crafts Stencil: Honeycomb
·         Little Birdie Crafts Packaging
·         Little Birdie Crafts Chipboard: Keys
·         Little Birdie Crafts Flowers
·         Little Birdie Crafts Acrylic Paint: Driftwood
·         Little Birdie Crafts Crackle Paste
·         Little Birdie Crafts Gesso
·         Canvas Board 20cm x 30cm & Wood Corners Inserts
·         Distress Paint – Gathered Twigs
·         Distress Oxide – Worn Lipstick
·         Water spray bottle and canvas

Instructions:
1.      Using the crackle paste and stencil, stencil randomly around the canvas. Allow this to dry.
2.      Spray water over the canvas and then dab Driftwood acrylic paint in and around the stencilling. Allow the paint to run and seep into the stencilling. Allow this to dry.
3.      Using the packaging bits, raise and adhere them, as per the photo’s. Outline with Gathered Twigs distress paint and a brush.
4.      Adhere the canvas wood corner inserts and paint with Gathered Twigs distress paint. Once dry, use a dry brush and add gesso highlights.
5.      Adhere the keys to the canvas, as per the photo’s.
6.      Fussy cut bits from the patterned papers and use bits from the embellishment pack to layer on the canvas.
7.      Add flowers and leaves to create the clusters, in and around the fussy cut bits and embelishments.
8.      Using a dry brush add gesso highlights.
9.      Lastly colour the chipboard title with Worn Lipstick and adhere to the canvas, as per the photo’s.
10.  All Done!

Fabulous Life - Mixed Media Canvas - FabScraps Pink Lemonade

Hello Everyone

I have a mixed media canvas to share with you..
FABulous life, uisng FABulicious FABScraps! LOL

I did loads of fussy cutting for this project. I definitely wanted to use all the gorgeous blooms and leaves on the patterned papers.

I had a lot of fun with the background too, using various mediums, paints etc.

I did a step by step tutorial for this canvas, to show you how I created it..

For This Project You Will Need:
·         FabScraps Pink Lemonade Collection paper range: C108 005
·         FabScraps Stencil: DS096
·         FabScraps Chipboard: DC78 008
·         Tim Holt Stencil: Crocodile THS022
·         Canvas Board 21cmx25cm
·         Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink: Peacock Feather, Peeled Paint, Worn Lipstick
·         Tim Holtz Distress Stain: Bundled Sage, Pine Needles, Pumice Stone, Broken China
·         Dina Wakeley Media Acrylic Paint: Evergreen
·         Paperartsy Infusions – Golden Sands
·         Wild Plum Dimensional Pearls
·         White Gesso
·         Pentart 3D Powder
·         Small pink and purple flowers
·         Nuvo Mousse Cornflower Blue
·         Nuvo Purple Organza Glitter

Instructions:
1.       Using the Nuvo mousse and spatula and FabScraps stencil, stencil 4 leaves from the bottom of the canvas upwards and outwards. Allow this to dry.
2.       Using the gesso and a spatula and the Tim Holtz stencil, stencil the crocodile patterning, in and around the nuvo mousse stencilling. Before this dries, sprinkle Pentart 3D powder over the stencilling.  Allow it all to dry.
3.       Spritz the canvas with water and add the various distress stains and green acrylic paint randomly over the stencilling. Add some Golden Sands Infusions on the edges too. Keep spritzing water to get the colours to run and mix. Once dry, add a few watered-down splatters of the wild plum dimensional pearls.
4.       Colour the Fabscraps elephant ear chipboard pieces with the green acrylic paint.  Once dry, add some white gesso highlights.
5.       Fussy cut lots of leafy bits, small flowers and birds from the patterned paper and ink all the edges.
6.       Fussy cut the title from the patterned paper and ink the edge with Peacock Feathers.
7.       Create and layer the central focal point cluster with the chipboard leaves, fussy cut leaves and flowers, pink and purple flowers and birds, as per the photo.
8.       Add some purple organza glitter to the purple flower centres.
9.       Use a paintbrush and water down some gesso.  Use the paintbrush to gently add some white splatters all over the canvas.
10.    Lastly layer and add the title.
11.    All Done!

Wild and Free - Mixed Media Canvas - Penelope Dee Feathered Collection

Hello Everyone

I am so thankful that my sons exams finished and so we are really now into the last 2 weeks of school. It almost feels like we are on holiday already! ;-)

I have a mixed media canvas to share with you today.  Again, I was playing with the pretty and gorgeous Feathered collection from Penelope Dee.

This photo was taken 2 years back at my in-laws in Mpumalanga.
These little Kingfishers came and sat on their washing line.
There were soooo cute! ;-)

I created a fairly simple background with a Penelope Dee stencil and then added colour with a Prima spray and distress oxides.
I also added some pen lines for more definition.

Of course, I also had to add lots of fussy cut elements too, including the title! ;-)

I love the soft colours in this collection! ;-)

Well I hope you are finding time to create, before the silly season really sets in!

Have a fabulous day!

Joy, Hope, Faith, Love Canvas - Distress Oxides

Hello Everyone

Wednesday was a Public Holiday in South Africa...Womens Day.
So I was so happy to spend part of the day creating!

I created a canvas, using Distress Oxides.

Firstly, here is what it looked like without any colour and just primed.

Here is the end result.

I used a mixture of metal bits, chipboard pieces, resin pieces and hessian.

I really love those muted and vintage colours.

Here's some closer shots.

It was so good to use so many little bits and pieces from my stash.

This is definitely going to sit in my dinning room! ;-)

Thanks ever so much for stopping by!
I hope you have a fabulous Friday and weekend!

Mixed Media Canvas - BoBunny Garden Journal

Hello Everyone

I hope you are having a restful but creative weekend! ;-)

I have been very busy lately with all my DT assignments, as well as class projects.
So I really have been keeping out of trouble and getting my creative nose down! ;-)

I did a mixed media canvas class 2 weekends back and used some of my favourite BoBunny goodies.

This is a 40cm x 30cm canvas.
I used the Garden Journal collection from BoBunny, along with some BoBunny stamps and stencils.

One can add photo's to this canvas but I chose not to and have left some space for some journalling thoughts that I want to add.

Here's some close-ups.

The flowers are handmade and created by layering up some flower die-cuts.

I really have been trying to use goodies and papers from my stash and this older BoBunny collection was perfect! ;-) So thumbs up for de-stashing! LOL

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog!
I hope you have a fabulous day!

Friends Forever - Mixed Media Canvas - Funky Flair Challenge

Hello Everyone

I  can't believe it's almost a week since I last posted!! Yikes!
The family has been sick with flu and for the last 3 days I have been rather under the weather too, so unfortunately I did not create much and I did not post anything either.

I have been busy with a canvas for a few days now, which just seemed to take forever, but it's now finally finished! ;-)

I had been over to Lizzy Hill's blog and had been inspired to play along with the

Here is the gorgeous mood board.

...and here is my take.

I used BoBunny Crackle paste to create the background, along with some Distress paints and sprays.

I used some Creative Embelishments Chipboard, along with some gorgeous, new leaf dies that I received from Sizzix and some Little Birdie blooms.

I used an older 7 Gypsies stamp for the title of this canvas.  It will be a gift for a friend of mine! ;-)

I am in love with the new leaf dies that I received from Sizzix -
