This is the start of an inspiration patch, where I hope that fellow scrappers and creators will come and find some inspiration, or even leave some inspiration for me.

Various Layouts

Hi Everyone

I hope that you are safe wherever you are and that the storms have subsided and peace and calm has been restored. Even here is Johannesburg we have been experiencing such strange weather patterns! Not sure what it is all about....but let's get to the scrapping.

I have some layouts to share with you today, that I have done for various classes etc. So without further adieu, here they are.

The first is such a great boy/Dad layout.

The papers are Scrap Collections papers and the chipboard cogs are Enmarc.

The second layout is one which I did for Let's Scrap and is really such a cute layout.
Dear Santa

This was the perfect sketch for just such a layout, especially with those 2 pockets. The first pocket contains the letter to Santa (or copy if I am talking to Joe) and the second one is another cute photo of him!  I used the new very Merry Christmas Echo Park Collection, along with such super stamps from 7 Gypsies - Par Avion Collection.

The last project is a Christmas Card, as I really had to get started and get going on these.  This was just one that really was so simple, but so lovely.

Don't you just love those fresh colours of Christmas! I just love Christmas time and all the celebration and festivity it brings!

Anyway, thanks for popping by today.
I really appreciate your comments and inspiration.
Have a great evening!

Joe Loves Throwing Ball... - CSI #42

Hi Everyone

It has been so dreary and overcast for the last 3 days, I have almost felt that way too!!! But luckily this afternoon we have seen some sun and I am so pleased that it has shown it's face!! ;-)

Today I want to share a layout that I created for CSI, case file no.42.  This was the challenge.

Here is my take on it.

I added some colour to my gesso and then used a credit card to just do a rough sort of painting, background look. I then did some paint stamping too. The papers and accents used are October Afternoon 5 & Dime, with Basic Grey Alpha's.

This is just the kind of layout I love doing, where it's all boy and just is an event that is kinda part of everyday life...throwing ball with my son Joe!

Here are some close-ups below.

Thanks so much for visiting.
Hope you have a good evening!

Prep School - OUAS October Challange

Hello Everybody

I had had quite a restful weekend. Even though I did a class yesterday, I have managed to actually rest and just spend some time reading a magazine etc.  That is the first in a looooong time! Think I definitely need some more ME time every now and then!

Anyways, I eventually got to photograph this layout, as yesterday afternoon was so dark and overcast, that I could not get it done.

Here was the sketch first and challenge quote.

great life quote.

And here is my take on it.

I had got this photo from my Mom a few weeks ago and really wanted to scrap it, as this was a really poignant year in my life - Grade 1 - first year of school. Looking back it was the captured moment of a sweet, innocent girl and the start of a great school career. I enjoyed school and so I can look back fondly at this moment and photo!

I used Pink Paislee Old School paper and accents, as well as Basic Gray Oxford chipboards, with some October Afternoon and & Gypsies stickers too. The flowers are Prima and Petallo.  I did some painting and stamping on the background and like the oldy feel of this layout.

Here are close-ups for good measure.

Lastly, a close-up of the journalling.

Can you remember that first year of school?
Maybe the thought is inspiration for a layout....

Hope you have a super Sunday afternoon!
Thanks for visiting..

Love - Challenge #10 Scrap Africa

Hi Everyone

There is a new challenge at Scrap Africa.  It is a really different one and one that I really enjoyed creating a project for.  The challenge here is to create a dominantly white project.  If you wish you can add one colour, but white must dominate.

So here was the layout that I created.

This photo was from my cousins wedding last year and was just the perfect inspiration for an all white layout.
I really wanted a full and layered layout, with lots of textures and dimension.  I am quite happy with the result.

I used an overlay (Cloud 9 possibly) on the background and then fussy cut some floral embossed paper. I also used die cuts made with a Cuttlebug, Prima Shabby Chic treasures, Prima flowers and pins.  I also punched the border for softness.

Here are 2 close-ups.

I really enjoyed this challenge.  Perhaps you would like to play along.
You have until the 31st October.

Thanks for stopping by.
Have a super evening!

Oh such Beauties - Prima BAP October

Hello Everyone

It has been such a strange weather weekend, but absolutely perfect for scrapping! So I managed to really spend some time and get some projects finished.  One being the Prima BAP October.

This was the sketch.

BAPSketchPrimaBritSviggum

So of course.....here is my take on it.

Here is a closer view.  I did some coffee splattering on the background, which was really fun and also gave a really nice result. I did some stamping also.

I used Prima Song Bird papers and accents, as well as Prima vine flowers and Prima stamps for the background work.

This very last one gives a closer view of the stamping.

I definitely think I am going to do some more coffee spritzing soon! ;-)

Thanks so much for stopping by.
I hope you have a wonderful Sunday afternoon!

Berry71Bleu - Guest Designer October

Hi Everyone

I am so excited to share this news with you!  Please check here for this post at Berry Bleu.
It is really such an honour and it was awesome working with Marivic's tags!

Here are the layouts that were featured.

The first is using the amazing London Market collection from Pink Paislee - The Time of My Life!
In addition, I used Petaloo flowers, Prima flowers and a Design Worx chipboard and an Enmarc chipboard corner, and 7 Gypsies stickers. There are some close-ups below also showing Marivic Clifton's marvelous tags. The journalling says that "I have found that if you love life, it will love you right back"!

My second layout was also a Pink Paislee, but Sweetness collection layout - Happily Ever After
I used another Design Worx chipboard, which I coloured with brown and golds to give it an aged look.
The gramaphone is also an Enmarc chippie and I used Petaloo flowers.
On the background I used a Chiswick stamp. Here also is a super and beautiful tag made by Marivic.

Thanks for checking in today!
Have a great day!

Little Mermaid - Berry Bleu Mixed Media Challenge

Hi Everyone

Hope you all had a good weekend and that your Monday was not too bad!

I have a mixed media layout to share with you today for the Berry Bleu challenge here.

This is the first time that I have actually done a mixed media canvas layout.  I really enjoyed the different techniques and had a good time playing and creating! ;-)

Anyways so here is the result.

I wanted to keep it very natural but also wanted to bring in some florals. So this is the combination of both.
Firstly I did some gesso painting on the canvas and added the corrugated cardboard, and then I did some spray painting and then added all the bits.  I also created texture on the fence with gesso and then also coloured with pigment inks.

Materials used:
Enmarc Dazzles spray inks - Bermuda and Ocean Jewel
Celebr8 chipboard fence
Gesso paint
Prima and Petaloo flowers
Thick twine
Natural shells and pebbles
7 Gypsies sticker
Basic Grey chipboard pieces

Here are some close-ups.

Thanks so much for coming to say hello today.
Perhaps you would like to try a mixed media project...it's easy when you just get going! ;-)
Enjoy your evening!

Live, Love, Grow, Enjoy, Imagine, Create - OUAS September Challenge 4

Hi Everyone

I have really been looking forward to getting this layout finished and posted, as it really is a favourite of mine.
Once Upon a Sketch hosted their 4th Challenge for September and it was another great challenge.
Here was the challenge.

So here is my take on it.

This challenge really made me think about what I would put down for the journalling and so I had to soul search, but I am happy with what I wrote.

For the evidence, I used  a rub-on for my title, leaves and a book page.
For the testimony I used the inspiration word: Learn..

I did some ivy masking with gesso and then did some old school pencil shading around the area. I did the same pencil shading around the bricks.  On the bricks I also gave them texture with gesso and then coloured them with pigment inks.

Here are some close-ups to give you a closer look.

Materials used:
My Minds Eye Laudry Line Sundress Sweetness paper, with Follow Your Heart papers and chippies.
Kaisecraft Chapter One Rub On
Enmarc - Bricks and leaves
Prima and Petaloo flowers

Thanks for visiting today...
Your comments and inspiration is always welcome and much appreciated.
Have a super evening!

Men at Work - Scrap Africa Sketch 10

Hi Everyone

I hope you are having a great week!

Scrap Africa has a new sketch challenge here and so perhaps you would like to play along.

Here was my take on the sketch.

I used Bo Bunny papers and accents from the On the Go collection. I also did the chevrons old school, with pencils and shading.  The outer edge is also shaded with pencils.

Here are some close-ups.

Thanks so popping by...
Hope to see you again soon!
