I hope that your Monday was a super start to the week.
I finished a page for the OUAS August challenge.
Journalling Theme: "The men in our lives..."
You are free to interpret our theme ANY WAY you like. It is for your inspiration and this theme word DOES NOT need to be part of your title or journalling. But please make sure your layout is based on the sketch below and includes journalling (hidden journalling is fine). Acceptable journalling is MORE than just a sentence, or generic writing such as date/place etc. It needs to be present and at least 3 lines long. Remember, hidden journalling (under a photo/tag or behind your page) is perfectly fine but please DO let us know in your post where your journalling is!
I turned the sketch on it's side and then created a page about a man in my life - my brother, who is 40 this year. He is the youngest of 3 siblings.
So here's my page.
I used a number of different bits and pieces and papers from different Prima collections. I wanted to keep this a masculine page, even though I used a few flower bits.
I did some watercolour effects, as I love doing lately and was very happy with the results. I also added some gold beads, which I have never added on a scrappy page and thought they made a nice little feature and added some texture.
I have had these ornate metal hinges forever and a day. I always wanted to save them for a special page and this page of my brother, was the perfect fit. The metal accents just added to the masculinity. So after about 10 years or more in my scrappy stash, they have finally found their way onto a page! ;-)
My journalling says this: You are always in my thoughts and prayers. No matter how far you are. I wish for your happiness and love everyday. No matter the age, I always look out for you and will always be your sister. You have grown into a super man @ age 40!!
I really do miss my brother and so wish he would be a part of our daily lives! I wish also that he would find his happiness and would also recognise it, when he found it!! He's a good man and I love him dearly!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Have a super evening!

A wonderful masculine page to honour your Brother. I like the masking and those super hinges. The beads work well and your journalling is superb. Thanks for the inspiration :D
ReplyDeleteI love this masculine layout. The watercolour looks perfect and I love the stencilling. The wood looking strips are gorgeous and the photos such fun but it was your journalling that tugged at my heart. I know just how you feel as all of my three brothers are far away. One I also wish could find happiness. But they all know how much I love them and that is the main thing. I think you rocked this one and I love it.
ReplyDeleteGreat layout Denise, I love repeated pictures and two hings accent the pictures in a great way. I learned something here, never thro out stash, you never know when you can use it :) Thanks for playing with us at OUAS!
