This is the start of an inspiration patch, where I hope that fellow scrappers and creators will come and find some inspiration, or even leave some inspiration for me.

Kaisercraft Layout and Mini Album Class - 01 Dec - Krafty King

Hello Everyone

I have so much catching up to do with posting projects and I can't even begin to tell you how many projects I can share.

I gave a big class on 01 Dec at Krafty King, where we did a layout and a take home project - mini album. It was a lot of preparation work, but it was all worth it in the end.

We had the day at Forever Centurian Hotel, it was just gorgeous! ;-)

Here are some photo's of the venue below.

Sadly there was no time for swimming, but yes, it was a sweltering day and a swim would have been welcome! ;-)

Below is the class page that we did.

I also gave them notes for a take-home project, which was a mini album.

I just shared some of the pages or otherwise this post would just go on forever and ever! ;-)

Here's a photo of me on the day too!

This class was the start of my busy, busy 3 months and I think that I am only starting to recover now!!!! He he he...I am laughing, but really think this is true also!

Class are great extra money but lots of preparation and energy!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
I hope you are having a great weekend!
Take Care for now

Smile - Mixed Media Layout - Kaisercraft Golden Grove Collection

Hello Everyone

Today I have a sunny and bright layout to share with you.
I used the beautiful Golden Grove collection.

I started off with a white cardstock background and then used my distress oxides to colour it.
It came out pretty alright, I reckon! ;-)

I kept the chipboard clean and this was perfect for the page colouring.

I did a fair amount of fussy cutting too.  Those blooms and leaves are just fabulous.

I used a Tim Holtz stamp for the edges...which I really just loved too.

This photo is of my niece! It was taken at her fathers 50th Birthday party.
We had such a blast and I love this happy and smiley photo of hers.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
I hope you have a tremendous Thursday.

Cheers for now.

Art Journal Page - Life Inspiration

Hello Everyone

I hope that you are having a great weekend.

I finished an art journal page which I really love.
I love how this page came together and I was able to play and create but I also love the sentiment.
Life has been a little tough lately and this page was certainly my "out" and solace.

Anyways..here's my page.

I really wasn't so sure about the background colours and then amazingly it just worked and all came together.  I used gel medium for the stencilling and then distress ink and gelatos and stamping and some washi tape.

I used a few bits and pieces from Graphic 45 and then also from Kaisercraft.
It's was good to use some rather old stash.

Here are some close-ups.

"Create a life that feels good on the inside
Not one that just looks good on the outside".

I hope you have a super Sunday.

General Cards

Hello Everyone

I met up with my scrappy buddies last week Tuesday and I managed, through all the chatter and laughter, to create some cards! ;-)

I used the soft and vintagey Rustic Harmony Collection from Kaisercraft.

I used an old BoBunny butterfly stamp to create the background! So simple...yet really effective, I thought! ;-)

I always like having different cards on hand, for all sorts of occasions. These are just the sort! ;-)

Hope you have a super evening!

I have an Aunt that turned 84 this week and so I had to make a card for her. A great age isn't it?! I hope I live to be that old! ;-)

Here's the card.

I used bits and pieces from various Kaisercraft collections, along with some Blue Fern Studios chipboard.

Just a very quick post for today!
Hope you have a gorgeous Sunday!

Sky Above Me, Earth Below Me, Fire Within Me - Scrap Around the World Feb Challenge

Hello Everyone

I have finished a page for the Scrap Around the World Challenge here.
This is the gorgeous mood board.

I took my inspiration from the colouring of the mood board...the greens and orange from the seaside boat picture along with the sentiment of the quote.

Here's my take.

This photo is of my neice, on Franschoek beach, Jan 2007. We had gone down to Cape Town for my brothers wedding.  This was the first day we had arrived.  She was prancing and dancing around on the beach! ;-)

I used bits and bobs from various Kaisercraft collections, along with the beautiful Blue Fern studios chippies. I love the words of the title....

I coloured the chippies with ink and then added some white and clear embossing powders.

I did some stamping and fussy cutting too.

Thanks so much for popping in!
I really appreciate the visit!
Have a super Saturday!

Remember - Scrap Around the World November Challenge

Hello Everyone

From a cold and miserable Johannesburg....!!! We are having such strange weather, it is just untrue!
I hope that summer will return very shortly! ;-)

I am sharing my entry for the Scrap Around the World November challenge.  The mood board is really amazing by Zuzia.

I love the vintage feel of this board, the music sheet, the wood boards and the purples and pinks in the beautiful bunch of flowers.  So these were the inspiration seeds for the canvas I created.

Here is my canvas.

This is a Christmas gift for my sister.  She is such a "nosy parker" though and so already caught glimpse of it, on my table on the weekend. In any case, I did not tell her who it was for.

The photo of this beautiful lady, is my Aunt, Berendina (Dina for short) and she was also my sisters God Mother.  She was a really special lady in our lives, as she was like our second Mother. I will type up some journalling, which will go on the back of the canvas.

I used old music sheet and then bits and pieces from the Kaisercraft Art of Life Collection. I did a lot of fussy cutting, and used it in between the flower clusters and around the page. I also used the wood grain paper from the BaseCoat collection.

I did gesso, stencilling, stamping, watercolouring and painting to create the background.

Here is side on of the cluster.....which gives you some idea of the depth.

This was a really special project for me and I really went through a range of emotions while creating it, from sadness to sorrow and grief and then happiness and fun memories. I am sure that my sister will feel the same and I hope she likes it as much as I do.

Thanks for stopping by!
I hope you have a super evening!

Christmas (eventually) in September!!

Hello Everyone

I hope that you are having a super weekend and that it has been a restful one! We have had such blissful weather, that it has been very difficult to stay inside!!

I took my son to the park this afternoon and the temp in my car showed 31C...it was HOT! ;-)

Anyways...Lizzy Hill will be proud of me..I have actually finished 2 Christams Cards.  Look, I did start them weeks ago...BUT, they are now finished! He he he...

Here's the second.

The leafy mistletoe was fussy cut from some Kaisercarft paper and the rest are just bits and bobs and leftovers.

Hopefully I can get some more made in the next few weeks....otherwise I might be a leeeetle short on Christmas Cards this year!! ;-)

Have a super Sunday!
Cheers

40 - Sketch no.29 - Scrap Africa

Hello Everyone

I have enjoyed a lovely day at home, as we had another Public Holiday today and it was bliss! I did a little grocery shopping, visited my aunt and then had some scrappy time as hubby took Joe to go a watch his older brother play rugby! It has been me and the doggies, scrapping and chatting! ;-)

There's a new sketch up at Scrap Africa here. Juliana Michaels is our special guest designer and there is some wonderful inspiration from her and the DT up on the blog.  It would be super if you could pop over and take a look.

Here's my sketch and then my take on it! LOL

This is another page where I used my stash! I have a load of Kaisercraft papers that have been waiting for me and I finally used this collection. I was very happy with the result.

My sister turned 40 a while back and this was her at her birthday party.

I loved all the beautiful diecuts and they were so very pretty.  So I used quite a few and then added in a few Petaloo blooms.

It was a lovely celebration and one I really enjoyed!

Thanks for stopping by!
I hope you will play along!

Vroom - Scrap365 May Sketch

Hello Everyone

I am loving the long weekends and it certainly has allowed me to catch up on a whole lot of things, including scrapping. They have made me lazy for work though and so today at work felt like a very loooooooong day!!

In any case, I have a page to share for the Scrap 365 May Sketch Challenge.

Here is my take on it.

I used some photo's of Joe, from 2 years ago, and wow, it is amazing to see how this boy has grown and no longer has his little baby face.

We were at the park and Joe realised that riding on the grass was not so easy, especially in the thick places.  So Willem decided to give him a push and Joe was delighted and eventually just put his feet up, while Willem pushed away.  No doubt, Willem was soon huffing and puffing and Joe was all smiles and saying "faster, faster"!! LOL....

Denise Price inspired me to get back into my stash and start using up my goodies! I was good for about 2 months and then wasn't quite so good! Anyways, so this was a stash pick and was really pleased to use the Kaisercraft, On the Move Collection.

Thanks for popping in...
I hope you have a super day!

Hello Everyone

It's April 01st! Can you believe it!! It's also my anniversary today....no it's not an April Fools Joke, it's really my 08th year wedding anniversary! So thanks to hubby for 8 great years and hopefully a lifetime more! ;-)

There's a new sketch at Scrap Africa here and it would be awesome if you could play along.

Here's my take on it.

I used the gorgeous Kaisercraft papers from the Art of Life Collection.

This page is about me in this moment, in this year, just choosing to be happy! It's a choice I make! ;-)

Please pop along to the Scrap Africa blog to see Missy Whidden's inspiration as well as the other Guest Designers and DT. They really did such a super job!

Today, Remember When - CSI Case File no.108

Hello Everyone

I hope you are having a super Saturday! I am chuffed, as I got a new toy today! I got a new camera!!!!! YEEEEEEEEHAAAA. My old one would have cost me an arm and a leg to fix, and so it was better to buy a new one than mend the old one! So thanks heavens above, I can sigh a sigh of relief and look forward to getting to know my new toy! ;-))

I finished a page for the Case File no.108 at CSI. Here was the Case File.

Here is my page.

Evidence: Mixed Media, Stamps
Testimony: Telling a story never told before and inspiration from the Art Journal Prompts

nice

I went through the Art Journal Prompts and found this lovely picture of a mended flower with these words: Perhaps strength doesn't reside in having never been broken...but in the courage required to grown strong in the broken places.

So the page I created is exactly about that, me looking back "Today" and remembering when I wasn't always so whole and the journey that took place in order to mend myself.

This photo was from around that time, 2004, when I was already on this journey.

I was 30 when I guess I experienced a mid-life crisis. I was in a relationship that really wasn't working for me and really was not happy with my life in general. It all was just one big mess and I was feeling quite helpless to help myself. I really did not know which way to turn and thought that if I did not find my way soon, that I would just fall into a deep, dark hole and I would never be able to climb out.

A friend of mine suggested I go and see a growth counsellor. I was sceptical at first, but so desperate for some help that I went and met with this lady. Her name was Fran Newington. Looking back at that first meeting it's hilarious, as I walked away from it thinking that I didn't feel any better and that she hadn't given me any cures or recipes for self improvement. LOL

In any, case, I persisted, or perhaps she persisted with me, rather, and she became one of the most important people I have ever met in my life. She was exactly what I needed and helped me mend ME. It wasn't always an easy journey, but it sure was a rewarding one.

She was one of the most remarkable women ever and had such a way about her that we became friends and she helped me through some of the biggest changes in my life. She did not judge, she did not chide, she just guided and loved me through every step.

She started me on a journey of self discovery that has never ended, and this journey has been continual and daily! She taught me so much and I am a very different person today, thanks to her.

Today I can look back and see how my life changed and improved so much, and today I am mostly happy. I guess there will always be dark days or dark moments, but for 95% of the time, I am happy.

It surely does take a LOT of courage to change but being a little more mended and less broken, in the end, is definitely worth it all
!

I used Kaisercraft Enchanted Garden Collection. I also used some Kaisercraft stamps, along with some MME stamps and Prima and Petaloo flowers.

This is probably one of my longest posts ever! LOL
I really appreciate the visit!
Have a super day!
