This is the start of an inspiration patch, where I hope that fellow scrappers and creators will come and find some inspiration, or even leave some inspiration for me.

Art Journal Page - Life Inspiration

Hello Everyone

I hope that you are having a great weekend.

I finished an art journal page which I really love.
I love how this page came together and I was able to play and create but I also love the sentiment.
Life has been a little tough lately and this page was certainly my "out" and solace.

Anyways..here's my page.

I really wasn't so sure about the background colours and then amazingly it just worked and all came together.  I used gel medium for the stencilling and then distress ink and gelatos and stamping and some washi tape.

I used a few bits and pieces from Graphic 45 and then also from Kaisercraft.
It's was good to use some rather old stash.

Here are some close-ups.

"Create a life that feels good on the inside
Not one that just looks good on the outside".

I hope you have a super Sunday.

Adora-Bubble Mixed Media layout - FabScraps Zooty Cuties Collection

Hello Everyone

I have another FabScraps mixed media page to share with you and it's using the Zooty Cuties Collection. It's a really sweet collection, especially for baby and toddler pages! ;-)

Here's my page.

I used a photo of Joe from a little photo shoot that we did, when he was about 2, going on 3,

Here's a close-up of the title, which I did with weathered embossing powder and some paint. FabScraps have gorgeous chippies, which match along with each collection.

I used quite a few die-cuts on this page. They always make for pretty layers.

I used a circle stencil for the circle and crackle paint and then outlined it with a koki pen.
I also positioned the 2 little butterflies where I did, so that it looks like Joe is watching them! ;-)

Anyways...hope you have a good evening!
Cheers for now.

The Good Life - Scrap Around the World March Challenge

Hello Everyone

I am just managing to get this layout up in time before the challenge closes......another hectic month is almost finished! ;-)

Here's the gorgeous mood board this month.

I was inspired by the colouring and the fact that this could be a masculine board.  I saw the little robot drawing and though about boys and their toys....LOL

So here's my minimalistic take.

I created the background with strips of washi tape and then added some watercolouring.

Here's a closer look.  I also used some rub-ons that I have had for ages.

This picture tells quite a story and so I wanted to really document that.  So I put a journalling tag behind the photo - the Details

"We were visiting Johanns Mom on the farm and there was heavy rain the night before.  So we had all gone out in the Landrover and bakkie for a drive and the Landrover got stuck in the mud.  We first tried to pull it out with the 4x4 bakkie, which was no use whatsoever.  Johann then went back to get the tractor, along with Joe and eventually they pulled the Landrover out.  It was huge fun for us all!
This was the 2 of them...very determined on their rescue mission!"

The square chipboard, behind the photo, was heat embossed and is Blue Fern Studios piece.

Thanks so much for popping in.
I hope you have a super Saturday!

Masculine Cards - BoBunny Wild Card

Hello Everyone

I can't believe that I have the whole house to myself again today....the boys are out with the bikes and so it's just me and the dogs, the birdies outside and my scrappy goodies! LOL

BoBunny has an awesome collection out - Wild Card - which is gorgeously masculine and is so perfect for those masculine cards and layouts.

I created some cards...one which I will certainly be using for my brothers 40th birthday, coming up very soon.

I used BoBunny stamps on the backgrounds, along with some BoBunny washi tape.

Here are the individual cards.

On this second one, I used the packing sheet from the buttons, as it was perfect for using on this card.

BoBunny Supplies:
Wild Card Collection - Packaging Sheet, Chipboards, Papers and Buttons
Stamps - Stained Textures
Souvenir Collection - Ephemera Pack
Washi Tape - Black and White

BoBunny Mixed Media Cards

Hello Everyone

I hope that you have had a scrappy and restful Saturday! I have managed to catch up on quite a few projects and things, so I am feeling quite pleased with myself.

Anyways, I am up on the BoBunny blog today with some mixed media cards. Please pop along and have a look at all the cards created by the DT, but here are mine.

Enchanted Garden is a fabulous collection and so pretty with it's colours and theme.

Here is a close-up of the gesso, watercolouring and stamping, along with some washi tape.  The new BoBunny stamps are so fabulous...they are great keepers! ;-)

For my second card I used the Modern Miss collection.

Again I did some watercolouring, and also added some drywall tape for texture. I love the vibrant colours on this card.

Check out these awesome new BoBunny stamps.

Monstrous Fun - Scrap365 June Sketch

Hello Everyone

I have had such a busy time.  My brother has been here from England and so we have been spending lots of time together as a family and I have not had lots of scrappy time. He leaves tonight, so it certainly will be sad but at least then I get some creating time back! ;-)

I did manage to finish a page for the Scrap365 June challenge. The sketch was a real goodie.

JUNE SKETCH CHALLENGE

Here is my take on it.

I am so enjoying my mixed media.  It really is so creative and no matter how hard one tries, it always turns out differently! ;-)

I used the gorgeous Our Lil' Monster collection from BoBunny. The colouring of this collection is so fun and fresh.

The little tag under my photo is my journalling tag and it says this: You are such a typical little boy, who loves to ride anything, and also ride it fast as you can! The wheels need to spin and the faster you can go the better. You are a little speed demon.

Little boys really are the bomb! ;-)

Thanks for always stopping by!
I really do appreciate your visits!
Have a super day!

Me and My Boy - BoBunny Mix it Up

Hello Everyone

BoBunny is giving away gorgeous prizes for 40 days, so if you haven't popped over yet to their blog, then it's a good time to scoot over, as they are already on day 7. There are so many chances to win! ;-)

I am up on the blog today with a layout that I really love and I really also had so much fun making it.

Out for Publication

I created this layout using 4 collections - Baby Bump, Pop Quiz, The Avenues and Modern Miss. I love that these collections are so versatile and can be mixed up to create a page, with such a great, finished look.

I went with a fresh and modern design, which compliments the 3 main collections nicely. In this design, I was also able to use the fabulous washi tape, which is my new "go to" BoBunny supply! I simply love it!

Since this page is about my son and I, I kept the flowers to a minimum. Here I  used BoBunny petals,  more of the chipboards and diecuts as embelishments, to keep the styling more general. I also used stamps on the background to add little touches of interest.

This little journalling chipboard was just perfect for my thoughts. It really tells the story of this page and photo! My son gave me the "thumbs up" on this page, so I was really thrilled about that!

BoBunny Supplies:
Patterned Paper: Great Expectations/ Baby Bump; Study Hall/ Pop Quiz; Authentic, Selfie/ Modern Miss
Cardstock: Jade Dot
Stickers: Cardstock Sticker/ Modern Miss
Brads: Baby Bump
Chipboard: 12 x 12/ Modern Miss; 12 x 12/ Pop Quiz
Stamps: It is Written; You're Invited
6 x 6 Paper Pad: Modern Miss; Pop Quiz
Petals: The Avenues
Washi Tape: Black & White Patterned

Thanks so much for stopping by!
I do so love your comments...
Have a super Saterday!

40 Winks - CSI Case File 112 & Scrapfriends March Sketch Challenge

Hello Everyone

From a very rainy and chilly Johannesburg, I write this post! Whatever has happened to our summer???!!!
I managed to photograph this page today, but had to be taken inside as for 3 days now we have not seen the sun.  Anyways, so here was the case file, as well as the sketch from ScrapFriends.

I created this page.

These photo's were taken when Joe was 3. He is so very sweet here and is so very peaceful.

Here is a close-up of my journalling and tells you what this page is all about. ;-)

I used some twine to place the focus on this sweet photo. The background is a mix of gesso, stencilling, stamping and spritzing.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Have a super evening!

Love, Live Music - OUAS Feb Challenge

Hello Everyone

I have just managed to squeeze this page in before the deadline. I was sure at one point that I would not get to play along.  But, I am pleased that I managed to get this page done in time.

So here is the challenge.

Journalling Theme: "Totally addicted to...."

You are free to interpret our theme ANY WAY you like. It is for your inspiration and this theme word DOES NOT need to be part of your title or journalling. But please make sure your layout is based on the sketch below and includes journalling (hidden journalling is fine). Acceptable journalling is MORE than just a sentence, or generic writing such as date/place etc. It needs to be present and at least 3 lines long. Remember, hidden journalling (under a photo/tag or behind your page) is perfectly fine but please DO let us know in your post where your journalling is!

Here is my take on it.

My title of Love, Live Music kinda tells you what this page is about.  My journalling card that starts with "Me" that you can see peeking out behind the phone dial says this: I absolutely cannot go a day without turning on the radio and listening to the music.  There is normally a song that stays with me the entire day and which I cannot get out of my brain.  I know song words and artists and love to dance and sing, even if just doing the dishes.  I love and live music!

I really did not have a photo of me, that would have depicted my love of music.  So I went to Pinterest and saw this retro photo of this awesome radio with these gorgeous flowers, and just knew that this was perfect.
So I created this page to compliment the photo and I love how it turned out.

The background involved lots of gesso, stencilling, texture paste, paints, inks, stamping and washi.

I used the Fancy Pants Trendsetter Collection. The colouring was a perfect match with the photo.

Thanks for stopping by to see my take on this challenge!
I hope you have a super evening!

Joe Just Can't Get Enough - Scrapfriends Dec Sketch Challenge

Hi Everyone

I hope that you had a super weekend and that Monday has been gentle on you! ;-)

I have a page to share for the sketch up at ScrapFriends here. This is the sketch.

Here is my take on it.

I mirrored the sketch and really kept quite close to the sketch, as I really loved this design.

I used gesso and the corrugated board to add texture, and then used washi tapes as well.

I used the Collecting Moments from Fancy Pants Designs. The washi tapes are MME and 7 Gypsies.
My title I stamped with BoBunny alpha stamps.

Joe loves the sea and once he is in, it is an absolute mission to get him out! He can be going blue with cold, but swim he will swim! He just loves every moment and it's just never enough...so the reason for my title! ;-)

These colours worked really well for a sea scape and I was pleased with the end result.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
I hope you have a super day!

Summer - Sketchbook365 November Sketch Challenge

Hello Everyone

I hope that you are having a super Saturday and hopefully finding a little bit of scrappy time too.

This morning we went to Joe's Grade 1 Information Day. I cannot believe that my son will be in Grade 1 next year.  It seems like a moment ago he was still a baby and now he will be starting school. The time just seems to pass so quickly!!!

Anyway, I have a page to share with you for the Sketchbook365 November Sketch challenge.

Here is my version of it.

I used the Palm Beach collection from Websters Pages, along with a Prima stencil for the gesso embossing, Fabscraps,Enmarc and Sassafras chipboards and an Upikit stamp, along with some My Minds Eye washi tape and enamel dots.

I did some gesso dabbing on my chipboard piece with a sponge and then spritsed it with some Enmarc Dazzles. I love the grainy, sandy texture that this effect gave.  Here's a close-up below.

I really tried to keep this page simple, and really had to keep myself from adding anything more.

This is another photo from our recent holiday by the sea. Joe was swimming in a tidal pool, and I sat on the side and took photo's of him! He was rather chilly here and I kept telling him to get out, but trying to get him out of the water was pointless.  He still swam for another half hour or so, and by that time the sun was already setting. It certainly was such a fabulous time for us both! ;-)

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a super Saturday!

A Boys Story is the best that is Told - SATW October Challenge

Hello Everyone

Sorry that my blog has been extremely slow this week, but life has just been hectic and I have not been able to post too much, until this afternoon.  I scrapped this morning and really enjoyed the creativity and inspiration that was flowing.

So the page I have to share is for the Scrap Around the World challenge here.

I really loved the bright yellow from the mood board, as well as the chevrons. So along with inspiration from the sketch, I put this page together.

These photo's were taken on our vacation to Salt Rock recently, and so I really wanted to use them. Joe and I had the most wonderful time and it really was just so good for the soul! We really did relax, have fun and enjoy every moment! It is certainly a vacation that I will not forget! ;-)

I used Kate & Co. Oxford Lane Collection from MME and Petaloo flowers.

I used paints, gesso and stamps for my background and I was really pleased with how it turned out.

Apologies for a little bit of a glare off the washi tape in the top right hand corner, but no matter what I tried, I just could not correct it.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
I hope you are having a super Saturday!
Be back soon!
