This is the start of an inspiration patch, where I hope that fellow scrappers and creators will come and find some inspiration, or even leave some inspiration for me.

Zeus and Zoe DT Layout / CSI Case File no.75

Hello Everyone

The week is steadily moving along and hope that at the half way mark you are still doing okay! ;-)

I am sharing a layout with you today, using Donna Salazar Designs papers and the Zeus and Zoe DT kit. I must admit that I really loved working with the Donna Salazar papers, they were thick and beautiful!
It was my first time working with Donna's papers and I would certainly recommend them! ;-) The aplha chipboard stickers were gorgeous too!

So here is the page that I created.

I first used a Prima stencil for the background painting, and then outlined the painting with a brown marker. I added some splats and then added the paper circles, stamping, chipboards and flowers, kitty cat and buttons.

This photo is of my 3 neices, being flower girls at another cousins wedding! They really looked so beautiful and were truly little angels!

You can find Donna Salazar Designs on this link and the super Zeus and Zoe etsy goodies here.

I am also using this page for the CSI Case File no.75, which consists of this.

Supplies used:
Prima Stencil, stamp and flowers
Donna Salazar papers and alpha chipboards
Petaloo flowers
Zeus and Zoe buttons and kitty
Enmarc Chipboards

Hope to see you back soon!

Love My Shoes - OUAS June Challenge

Hello Everyone

I hope you are enjoying the weekend!

It is supposedly winter here in Africa, but my goodness, we surely can't complain about the weather! Beautiful blue skies and wonderful sunshine is the order of the day! ;-))

I had to laugh when I saw the OUAS challenge, as I had just completed my DT layout for Zeus and Zoe and the challenge is all about my favourite things.  So I had done a layout of some of my shoes.  So the OUAS challenge is about exactly that, my 1 guilty pleasure, my shoes (of course, that is next to my scrapping goodies!!!)

So here was the sketch.

And here is my page.

I wanted to make my page a bit edgy, a bit steampunky and a bit sharp, to match my shoes. So I went with Graphic 45 papers, Steampunk Debutante and Olde Curiosity Shoppe.

My journalling is on a tag underneath the photo and says this:
My love of shoes comes a long way. There is no better retail therapy than looking for a new pair of shoes! Next to scrapbooking supplies, shoes must be my next guilty pleasure! In fact, what guilt at all??!!!!!! There is nothing better than stepping out in style! ;-)

Supplies used:
Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante collection
Graphic 45 Olde Curiosity Shoppe collection
Prima Vintage Trinkets
Chiswick flowers
Enmarc Chipboards
7 Gypsies tag and stamp
Belle Brocade Stencil

Thanks for stopping by!
Hope you have a super day!

Badplaas - CSI Case File no.74

Hi Everyone

I am soooooo pleased it's Friday and I am so happy to just chill and relax a little bit! It certainly feels like it has been a very long week!

I managed to get my layout photographed, just before the sun has disappeared, so at least I am able to post today.

I played along with the new CSI challenge.

I used this sketch as inspiration from Scrap Friends.

Here is my page.

Evidence: Metal brad, flowers
Testimony: Documenting a childhood memory

This photo was taken when I was about 4 or 5 years old, at a resort called Badplaas (direct translation is Bath farm). We spent many a vacation here and it was ideal for kids as they have warm pools and is all centred around family vacations. For days on end we would lie around the pool, rollerskate, play and just chill!

My journalling says:We spent many a vacation at Badplaas, Eastern Transvaal. It was such a great place for families and us kids. We swam and played all day! It was bliss!

I used papers from my stash, BG Sweet Threads and they were perfect for this challenge.

Thanks for popping in!
I appreciate it!
Have a super evening!

Morgan - Sketchbook 365 June Challenge

Hello Everyone

I hope that Monday was a good day for you and that you also had a good weekend.

I am playing along with the Sketchbook 365 sketch challenge and created a sweet little page.

Latest Sketch Challenge - June 2013

Here is my take on it.

This is my youngest niece, who has just turned 1, and this photo was taken at her 1st birthday party! She is almost walking, but not quite yet.

I used Websters Pages Best Friends collection, with a Scrap FX chipboard.

I found the colouring a little tricky, especially with the dot paper! I like the end result, but think I had a totally different idea in mind, when I first started this page! ;-) That happens sometimes!!

Well thanks for stopping by!
Have a super evening!

Tree Fella's - CSI Case File no.73

Hi Everyone

The weeks are flying by, and the weekends even faster! I can't believe that it was Friday night a few hours ago and already it is Sunday afternoon! I wish the weekends would last forever!! ;-))

I played along with a CSI challenge and the colours were a little challenging for me, but I managed to create a page.

So here is my page.

There's a little play on words in the title, with Tree Fella's, as they are also fellers.

Evidence: Circles
Testimony: My jounralling is a series of directions
Then men in our family (Dad, Johann, Rudi and Mark) were asked to help out with some tree felling in December 2012, while they were all on leave. It turned out into 4 different days and 4 different locations! So they became the Tree Fella's (fellers)! My Dad was the organiser and the adviser and shouted directions.
The journalling spots say this:
- Hold onto this rope and make sure the branch is secure. Be careful now!
- Hold on tight now, is that saw secure? Okay boys, let's get this job done quickly.
- Hey guys, please be careful. Make sure that branch doesn't fall the wrong way! Watch out!!

I used the Fancy Pants Designs Swagger collection, with lots of spritzing and colouring. The chipboards are Enmarc and Design Worx, and the alpha stickers are Crate Paper.

I really wanted to add lots of texture, to add to this masculine page and love that way that it turned out.

Thanks so much for popping by!
I do so love your visits!
Have a super evening!

Hello Everyone

There is a new sketch challenge at Scrap Africa here. Tina Walker is the GD this challenge and her layout its awesome! Please pop by and have a look.

Love the sketch for this challenge.

Current Challenge

Here's my take on it.

I have so been loving the boy pages lately and this is no exception.  I did some stamping and gesso'ing, which all adds to this boy layout. I used Fancy Pants Designs Swagger Collection and Beary Patch alpha's, Enmarc chipboards, 7 Gypsies and Bo Bunny stamps, and a Prima stencil.

You have until 14 June to enter. It would be great if you could play along.

Have a super evening!

Zeus and Zoe June Challenge - My Favourite Things

Hello Everyone!

We have a new challenge up at Zeus and Zoe.
This month's challenge is inspired by the lyrics of Julie Andrews song " My Favorite Things"

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things!

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things!

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eye lashes
Silver white winters that melt into spring
These are a few of my favorite things!

When the dog bites, when the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad,
I simply remember
my favorite things
and then I don't feel so bad!

We all have those favorite little things that we just can't help gravitating to and maybe even collecting.  So this month we want to see projects highlighting YOUR very favorite things and to kick things off, we've put together a couple of boards to share the things that we love!

For me (Denise) personally, my favourite things that come to mind are: my shoes, my morning cup of coffee, my flowers in the garden, comfort winter food eg. soup or a beautifully decadent cupcake. So here is my board for some inspiration.

Now anybody that really knows me, really knows that I have quite a shoe collection! ;-) I love a beautiful pair of shoes and my Dad asks me regularly if I am wearing a new pair! So my layout had to simply be about this little love of mine. The sentiment I chose specifically because it is absolutely spot on! ;-)

So here is my page for this challenge.

I used the wonderful papers by Donna Salazar, the die-cuts, as well as the chipboard alpha's. I did some gesso stencilling on the background and also added texture to Scrap FX chipboards with Kwik crackle.

Aren't these shoes just to die for?!

Norma is also sharing her favourites below:

Norma also here to share some of my little obsessions with you, lol.  I absolutely  love everything on my board with my top pick being the beach.  The beach photo on my board is my family's favorite summer getaway here in beautiful Texas.  I added pics of bracelets, lanterns, storage crates and pink orchids because I collect all of these things.  I love, love, love orchids and have them all over my home but they have to be pink (you know how I love color, lol).  I'm also obsessed with storage containers and lanterns.  They're all over my home too.  Oh and bracelets, don't even get me started!  The funny thing is that I tend to always buy them in beautiful shades of turquoise, browns and silver just like in the photo.  One of my other loves is architecture and design, I enjoy taking photos of old buildings with loads of character like gorgeous detailed doors and worn wrought iron and you know my board would not be complete without my paint brushes.  They transport me to my happy place!

Since my all time favorite thing is the beach, I thought I'd do an ocean inspired project.  I also wanted to do my favorite kind of project (mixed media) and use my favorite blue/green colors.  So this is what I came up with:

Ever since I was a little girl, I've loved painting and been completely mesmerized by the sea.  I looked forward to Saturday mornings so I could watch two of my favorite shows on public television: The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross and The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau.  So my goal was bring those two worlds together in this piece.

I began by applying molding paste, patterned papers from my Zeus and Zoe kit and swirls with a 3-D writer.  Once that was dry, I added layers of paint in my favorite shades of blue and began building my cluster of  treasure that I'm sure my mermaid has been collecting for some time ;D.  Most of the found objects I used are from my Zeus and Zoe kit but a few are from my stash of goodness.  Next I applied a layer of gesso over all the little bits.  Once the gesso was dry, I spritzed various colors of Dylusions sprinkled with blue/green PearlEx for shimmer.

I love including a positive message in my artwork so I chose to use, "You can never cross the ocean unless you have the COURAGE to lose sight of the shore".  I truly love the way this project turned out and I hope I've inspired you today.

Now it's your turn!! We would love to see your interpretation of this month's challenge "My Favorite Things"! Whether it's a project using your "favorite" materials or it's about your "favorite" things; if you love it and it's your "favorite" share it!!

This month we are fortunate to have the talented Donna Salazar sharing her wonderful products with us as well as Couture Creations. Each has sent a beautiful assortment of items for our challenge winners.
